The 3rd tunnel

The 3rd tunnel was discovered on October 17, 1978. It is located 52km from Seoul. Approximately 10,000 soldiers can move through this tunnel in 1 hour. When this tunnel was discovered, North Koreans insisted steadfastly that it was made by South Koreans to invade North Korea, but this proved to be false.

Imjingak

Imjingak, located 7 km from the Military Demarcation Line, is now at the forefront of tourism related to the Korean Conflict. It was built in 1972 with the hope that someday unification would be possible.Three-storied Imjingak is surrounded by several Monuments, Unification Park and North Korea Center.

Unification village

Because this area restricts civilian access, visitors must participate in the DMZ Peace & Security Tourist Program (implemented by Paju) to visit the observatory.most of the village people are farmers and there is one farmer’s souvenir shop where you can see their own farming products.

The freedom bridge

The bridge was given its present name by former President Seung-man Lee as 12,773 Korean War prisoners returned home to freedom over this bridge. It is said that the prisoners were transported by car up to the Gyeongui-seon Line Iron Bridge and crossed over the Bridge of Freedom by foot. The bridge is the only remaining legacy of peace in the Korean War as it holds the symbolic significance of the "Return to Freedom.”

Dora observatory

Mt. Dora Observation platform is located nearby the 3rd tunnel.
From this Observation platform, North Korean military personnel are visible, and so are the city of Gaeseong and the Geumgangsan Diamond

Dorasan train station)

Located 30 meters from the South Korean boundary fence of the northern part of the civilian controlled area, Dora Mountain Train Station is the northernmost Gyeongui-seon (Seoul-Sinuiju) Line train station in South Korea. It attracted worldwide attention with the visit of United States President Bush on February 20, 2002. When the South-North traffic becomes a reality with the reconnection of Gyeongui-seon Line, Dora Station will play a central role in the Asia-Europe Iron Silk Road that will connect with not only North Korea but also the greater countries of China, Russia and beyond.

DMZ Exhibition hall

The DMZ exhibition hall is comprised of four thematic exhibition halls, a special exhibition room, a theatre, and other facilities. The theatre screens 3-D movies about the Korean War, including one film that takes the audience back in time to the signing of the armistice and the creation of the DMZ (8 minutes). The theater also features a documentary on the ecology of the DMZ (7 minutes). The Special Exhibition Hall displays photographs and other materials regarding rare species found within the DMZ.
